Prevegyne® is a natural health product (NPN 80038565) that is recognized by the SOGC and clinically proven to help reduce/relieve the symptoms of non-specific vaginitis/bacterial vaginosis. A six (6)-day treatment is recommended to help restore normal pH levels and normal vaginal flora. How does Prevegyne® work?
Prevegyne®’s special vaginal formulation slowly releases a moderate quantity of vitamin C over several hours. This reduces the risk of irritation of the vaginal walls that can occur with high concentrations of vitamin C.
Prevegyne® helps restore vaginal flora by decreasing intravaginal pH (≤ 4). A pH below 4 favours good bacteria like lactobacilli (major constituents of the normal vaginal flora), capable of growing even at pH values ≤ 4. Decreased vaginal pH also limits the survival of pathogenic bacteria that negatively affect vaginal environment.
Dosing form
Prevegyne® is supplied in the form of controlled-release vaginal tablets. Each tablet contains 250 mg of ascorbic acid (vitamin C).
Each box contains 6 tablets, 1 plastic vaginal applicator and the consumer information leaflet.
